Tony and I are heading off to hot and humid Minnesota for a wedding this weekend. I realize it seems crazy to say hot and humid, but every time I check the weather in Minnesota it says 85-90.
After the wedding on Friday, we’re heading up to my Godparent’s cabin up north. Since I was 6 months old, I’ve been heading up to the cabin with my family — it holds such special memories and I can’t wait to relax, cook delicious food with my Godfather and of course, watch Tony go fishing for hours and hours. I’m bringing a few books with me for a little R&R time including Crazy Rich Asians, and a new to me book, The Body Keeps Score, which I’m even more excited about. If you have any MUST READ books, let me know! I love hearing your recommendations.
So, anyway — let’s talk about the sprouts. Have you ever grilled brussels sprouts before? They’re delicious, especially when coated with this sweet and spicy maple dijon sauce. The sprouts will caramelize slightly and have a gorgeous char from the grill. Who could resist.
I have to admit, the hardest part about this recipe is getting them on the skewer, but it’s so worth it because hello… look how cute turn out. I highly recommend drizzling them with your favorite sauce too — maybe a siracha aioli or a garlic tahini sauce? YASSS.
Enjoy this recipe. Great year round and good for you too.

125 Ridiculously Good For You, Sometimes Indulgent, and Absolutely Never Boring Recipes for Every Meal of the Day
Ingredients
- 1 pound brussels sprouts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1-2 tablespoons dijon mustard
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium high heat (about 400 degrees F) and lightly oil the grate.
- Cut off the stem of the brussels sprouts (just the white part on the bottom) and remove any outer yellow leaves. Be very careful not to cut too much off the stem, otherwise the leaves will all fall off!
- Place brussels sprouts in a large bowl.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, maple syrup, dijon, garlic, cayenne, salt and pepper. Pour all over the brussel sprouts and toss until they’re full coated.
- Skewer 4-5 brussels onto each skewer. Reserve extra sauce in the bottom of the bowl.
- Place skewers on grill, cooking for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until brussels sprouts are golden brown and slightly charred. Before serving, brush brussels with any remaining sauce and sprinkle with a little extra salt, if desired. Serves 4.

This is such a creative way to serve Brussels Sprouts, and a perfect veggie dish to add to any BBQ menu! Love it!
So fun! And perfect for parties 🙂
I love, love, love Brussels Sprouts and this recipe seems to be absolutely scrumptious. Unfortunately, I can only find frozen ones right now as they are out of season here in Austria. I have to save this recipe for fall/winter.

You’ll have to give this marinade a try on another vegetable! It’s delicious 🙂
Could the marinade be made without oil?
I wouldn’t recommend it! The oil will help them grill up nicely 🙂
Brussels sprouts are one of my favorite vegetables! They are the BEST for grilling and roasting. Combining this with a spicy maple sauce is absolutely brilliant. Love the skewers too! So pretty!
Agreed! So good 🙂
YUM. I cannot wait to try this! The fiance and I LOVE sprouts and mustard so this getting made asap (if I can still find sprouts)! Otherwise this is pinned for autumn 😉
Perfect combo!! Hope you guys can find the sprouts 🙂 Enjoy!
Crazy rich asians is a fun read! Will be perfect for the cabin! It’s becoming a movie too!

I’m excited to see the movie too!
Brussels sprouts are one of my favorites! I love this grilled recipe! Super simple to add to a barbecue meal!
Mine too! And absolutely – burger on the side? Yes please.
I’m always looking for a fresh take on brussels sprouts — awesome idea plus a no-heat in the kitchen recipe. Thanks for sharing!
YES this one is perfect for summer and the flavors are amazing! Hope you get a chance to make them 🙂
Hi there. I love your recipes! It would be really helpful if you could include a Pinterest button for each recipe. I saw this recipe has a “Pin this recipe” section, but there isn’t a button to easily save to Pinterest. I use the “Save from a website” option on Pinterest, but a direct button would be a lot easier. Thanks!
Hi Kristen! Thanks so much for your feedback – we’re currently working on a little bug in a plugin, so the pin button should be back soon 🙂
I’ve never tried grilling brussels sprouts…but I love them roasted and these look delicious!
These are awesome! So fun on the grill 🙂
If I don’t have a grill, is there another way you recommend cooking them? If I were to roast them, what would you recommend?
You can definitely roast them! I’d roast them on parchment paper at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, flip them, and then roast for another 10-15 minutes 🙂
This sounds wonderful! Can’t wait to try it, but just thought it might be nice to mix the sauce in the bowl and then put the cut sprouts in that same bowl to toss instead of having an extra bowl to clean.
That’s a great idea! I’m all about saving dishes 😉 Enjoy!
I made this and it was amazing!! But I have to say I literally could not skewer them. It was way too hard. I roasted them instead and they came out SO good.
Glad you liked these! The skewering can be tricky, but roasted is perfect 🙂
Made these tonight in the oven (with WAY less red pepper–still spicy), and WOW! These are delicious. Plus my house smells wonderful. Thanks for a new way to make brussels sprouts.
I was not a fan of brussel sprouts until I tried this recipe. My family loved it. I added sweet onion and sweet peppers to the skewers. The blend tasted great together. Thank you‼
Amazing! So happy to hear that!
These are absolutely delicious! The flavor is wonderful and a little spicy without scaring off people who don’t like too much heat. Myself and my sister are not even big mustard fans, but we both loved the dijon flavor mixed with the maple. I sautéed the sprouts in a cast iron pan on med-high heat instead of grilling because I didn’t have skewers handy and they turned out great still.
Absolutely! So delicious 🙂
We don’t have a working grill, so I just put them in the oven at 400. They were delicious! But next time will definitely grill or broil!
I was able to use the leftover sauce to coat 4 chicken thighs. Also very good!
Perfect! Love that sauce 🙂 hope you get a chance to grill or broil them!
I have literally tried every recipe for brussel sprouts ever bc I really want to like them and I just can’t find anything that makes them good…UNTIL THIS!! This was amazing…light sweetness with a punch. SO SO GOOD!!
Love that! Glad you found this one!
Love Brussel Sprouts and very excited to try it but I don’t have a grill. Would this still work roasted or broiled in the oven?
Yes! Feel free to roast them 🙂
Absolutely delicious!
Glad you enjoyed!
These were very yummy. But could not get them on the skewer. Ended up having to roast them. I couldn’t even get the stick to get in on either end. But the sauce was delish, I will just roast in steaks if trying to skewer them next time I make them.
Sorry to hear that but thanks for letting me know! Glad they were still delicious 🙂
I made these for a family get together and they were a huge hit! Everyone raved and asked for the recipe. I’ll be making them again for another gathering. So simple but they seem special. I made them in the oven but they were perfect and looked like the photo.
Amazing! So happy to hear that!
